A New Day, A New Year

A new day, a new year....

A friendly, pale green butterfly shows herself in my garden. She flutters around me, round and round. Letting me get close to her. First, she settles on my first chamomile flower. Then, on this beautiful,  blooming succulent from friend, Regina. 🌼🌻🌺🌹🌷⚘🌈🌈🌈
Butterfly is a symbol of soul, trsnsformation.
Psyche means "soul." Psyche has two small golden butterfly wings on her back.
Cupid, Eros, or Amore, fell in love with Psyche, but his mother, VΓ©nus, or Aphrodite, did not approve of the match.
Her story is similar to Cinderella in that she had two sisters.
It is also similar to Beauty and the Beast, as Cupid had to shield his true appearance from her,
In order to marry. She could not see his face.
Her sisters convinced her to light a candle one evening and see who this monster was.
She lit the candle. When she shown it on his face, she saw that he was really an angel not the monster everyone made him out to be. Sadly, he awoke just at that time.
As she had seen his true form, she was cursed...
Doomed to live her days in the wilderness.
It was quite tragic, as she and Cupid really loved one another.
Cupid convinced his mother to give her a chance.
The mother gave her many tests... which she surpassed with the help of Cupid.
Eventually, his mother accepted Psyche, and they had a great celebration.
It was a sacred wedding ceremony.
She was invited to drink from the golden goblet at this banquet.
From then on, Psyche was a goddess.
No longer human, she would live forever.
